Within us all is a place deep in the psyche, where lurk all that we "are not"; that which we do not care to identify with personally and consciously. The amazing thing about the Shadow is that it is obvious to anyone else looking, and CAN be made much more conscious to us as well. In knowing our shadow, we also know our light, for the brighter and more direct the light, the sharper and more clear the shadow. The shadow isn't "bad" it is just what it is - a component of our own self which is most often projected onto others or "types of people". Cultural shadow projection is always apparent in the news, but our personal individual shadows are often deeply buried, and build up over a lifetime of (often necessary) boundaries and barriers. We stuff the part of our self we "ARE NOT" into, as Robert Bly says, "the long black bag we drag behind us . . ." (A Little Book on the Human Shadow, R. Bly). In this constructive workshop Erin shows how to have fun with Shadow material and realize that it is one's constant companion. Acknowledging it makes it less likely to attract negative, repetitive habit patterns in life. Erin discusses the classic Jungian shadow archetype, patterns of planets and houses; the astrology of The Shadow in the horoscope - how to "spot" it, and how to work with it so that it doesn't have such a negative effect in your life.
